Lighthouse Guides

Purpose:

Help the public, especially school children, gain a sense of their tie to history at the Admiralty Head Lighthouse

Description:

Approximately sixty percent of the sixty Lighthouse Keepers at the Admiralty Head Lighthouse are Beach Watchers volunteers.

Schools use the tours for the study of history along side other subjects. In 2006 tours served over 4000 people from schools as well as the general public.

Volunteer tour guides are trained by a combination of State Park personnel, and experienced Lighthouse Keepers. Donations and sales at the gift shop make this a significant funding project for all the projects within the Lighthouse Environmental Program.

Volunteer Oppportunities:

Become a tour guide, or help out in the gift shop.
