Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST)

Purpose:

Provide data to scientists on the presence and species of dead birds found along our beaches.

Description:

This program is a collaborative research effort with Dr. Julia Parrish, University of Washington School of Fisheries. Beach Watchers host training in Coastal Observation and Sea Bird Survey each year. This project has been a cornerstone project with Beach Watchers since the early 1990's. Volunteers are assigned a particular area of beach. Special training is required.

Volunteer Oppportunities:

Volunteers are welcomed by COASST for training and deployment to "their" beach. The ability to access and walk on a beach is the only physical requirement.
