Outreach Booths at Public Events
Purpose:
Provide education displays at public events like the Island County Fair or Stanwood Fair.
Description:
At the Island County fair eighteen volunteers tend a Beach Watchers booth within the Washington State University display. They are on hand during all the open hours of the four day event, encouraging children and their parents to have a go at some educational games, and offering information on Island County Extension projects.
One day events (Penn Cove Festival, ...) provide a compressed version of the same.
Volunteer Oppportunities:
If you enjoy working with the public, and particularly children, this is a great opportunity to help Beach Watchers share what we know with the greater community.
