Several species of the red seaweed Palmaria sp. occur in our area in the low intertidal and subtidal, the most common is Palmaria molis P. molis has smooth fleshy blades, ~20 cm (8 in.) tall and 10 cm (4 in.) wide with a soft slightly rubbery feel to them.  The blades do not have veins or ribs, edges are smooth, and the lower half of the blade is wedge shaped.  Individuals are attached to rocks with a discoid holdfast.  P. molis is a perennial, most easily found in spring and early summer.
