Lacuna snails look very much like periwinkles but live considerably lower in the intertidal zone.  Found on surfgrass, eelgrass, rocks, and seaweed low in the intertidal, the little herbivores have a diameter of only ¼ inch /7 mm. Watch for their egg clusters which look like tiny pastel colored donuts.  The egg clusters are initially pale blue or green but later turn yellow or tan.
