The Salish Sea
encompasses Puget Sound, the Straits of Georgia, and the Straits
of Juan de Fuca. Its waters are shared by British Columbia,
Canada & Washington State. The name honors the
Coastal Salish Peoples who historically inhabited this coastline.
These
ID cards were originally developed for WSU Beach
Watcher intertidal monitoring teams. Nearly every
seaweed and seagrass encountered during ten years of monitoring
at 28 different sites is represented.
Photographic images
of Common Intertidal Seaweeds and Seagrasses
of the Salish Sea are by Mary Jo
Adams & Jan Holmes, graphic design by Jan Holmes,
Periwinkle Press, c.2007.
